Jessica Luna

Jessica Luna (She/Her/Ella) is one of this year’s summer fellows at LCSV. As a first generation Mexican American student born from a working class family, they are majoring in Environmental Studies and Public Health at Santa Clara University. Since high school, they have had a passion for and worked with marginalized communities, particularly unhoused, and black and brown folks. At university, Jessica is pursuing an emphasis in health and society, where they have conducted research proposals on the intersectionalities between community health and the built environment. Jessica is also an Ambassador for el Consulado General de México, where they pitched a proposal to better support Mexicans living in the U.S, both socially and culturally.

Ultimately, Jessica strives to create a more equitable and sustainable environment for all folks through inclusive research and holistic public health program implementations, regardless of socioeconomic status or racial background.

In their free time, Jessica likes to unwind by working out at the gym or going on a run, where they can enjoy the Bay Area nature. Jessica also enjoys cooking, where they practice recreating their parent’s cultural dishes from Nayarit and Hidalgo, trying to get them just right.
