Lydia Guel is the Community Development Director at Sacred Heart Community Service, which is the Community Action Agency for Santa Clara County that provides programs and services, mobilizes volunteers, and organizes for social justice to alleviate poverty, its symptoms, and its root causes. There, she provides leadership in a diverse array programs including volunteer engagement, social equity education, fundraising, marketing, and media advocacy.

Raised in east San José while Silicon Valley grew up around her, Lydia has dedicated her life’s work to advocating for the next generation of Latina leaders. She brings 20 years professional experience in community leadership, public relations, government, and nonprofit management to the Board. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from University of California at Berkeley and an MBA in Mobile Marketing & Social Media from National University. Lydia recently served as Chief of Staff for the downtown San José City Council office and is a former Commissioner for the Santa Clara County Human Relations Commission. In addition to her role as a Board member with Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley, she currently serves as a Senior Fellow for American Leadership Forum’s Urban Innovation Network.
