Board Co-Chair

Marlene Gaucin has been on the Board of Directors since 2014. She serves as the Treasurer. Her professional background is in law. She is an immigration paralegal for the Law Offices of Michael K. Mehr in Santa Cruz, California. Her work focuses on removal proceedings, family based immigration, and post conviction relief. Prior to joining the firm, she worked within the legal department of Robert Half International, Inc. in Menlo Park, California. She is a fellow of the Hispanic Foundation Leadership Academy of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, and a former fellow for the Office of San José City Council Member Xavier Campos. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Services, Immigrant Rights and Education Network (SIREN), and assists on the Fundraising Committee. Marlene is a graduate of the Master of Public Administration Program at San Jose State University. Her graduate research included a program evaluation of section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) for several counties in California. In 2007, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Studies at San Francisco State University. She has served as president of her student associations, and as member of the planning committee of the Municipal Management Association of Northern California Women’s Leadership Summit. She is involved in her hometown as member of the Gilroy Leadership and Education Foundation’s cohort.

Marlene moved to the United States from Mexico at the age of two. She is fluent and literate in Spanish. She enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and watching live-sporting events.
