Monica Rodriguez is a Council Assistant for San Jose Councilwoman, Sylvia Arenas. In her role, Monica advocates for the needs of residents on the east side of the district who are predominately Latinx, lower-income, and often dealing with multiple barriers to opportunity. Through her work with the Office of Councilmember Arenas, Monica empowers members of the community to understand how to navigate and stay engaged with their local government so that everyone can create a safe and thriving community for their families.
Before working with the City of San Jose, Monica was part of the Development team at the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley. During her time there, she used her skills in marketing and fundraising to further the organization’s reach in the community and ensure continued financial support for critical legal services that protect the rights of Silicon Valley’s most vulnerable families and individuals.
Monica was born and raised in Houston, Texas and is a graduate of the University of Houston where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Nonprofit Management. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new hikes, catching live music, and trying out the latest restaurants across San Jose
