The Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley is proud to launch a voter registration campaign with Univision and Voto Latino. LCSV is dedicated to civic engagement and leadership development, the first step of which is voting.
Latinos comprise 34% of California’s adult population but just 17% of likely voters according to the PPIC. Sadly, 60% of Latino adults are not registered to vote in the state. Given these statistics, it’s no surprise that our elected officials do not reflect the diversity of our communities. Imagine the impact we could make if the majority of Latinos went out to the polls? Let’s wake up that sleeping giant!
Make your voice heard and promote voter registration in four easy steps:
- Register yourself to vote. It’s fast and easy. Remember, you must re-register if you have a change of address.
- Register others to vote! If you are already registered or are not eligible, go out and register your eligible friends, family members, and neighbors.
- Print out a flyer in Spanish or English and post your selfie on facebook and twitter to encourage others to register and vote! Don’t forget to include: #VotoLatino #ContamosContigo #LatinaCoalitionVotes @LatinaCoalition
- Tag your friends and challenge them register to vote and post their own selfie.
The last day to register to vote before the November election is October 20th.
Lastly, we invite you to join us to celebrate the Latin@ vote at the Voto Latino Power Summit October 17-18 at San Jose State University.
