Alex Zabalza

Alexandra “Alex” Zabalza is an Archivist Intern with Latina Coalition this summer, working to prepare for the 25th Anniversary Sisterhood Brunch. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Alex is a first-generation college student, and is excited to enter her senior year at Santa Clara University where she is majoring in Sociology, French, and Women’s & Gender Studies. Her academic interests stem from her lived experiences and identities, and she hopes to use academia to explore the socio-cultural contexts in which disparities and marginalization continually exist, in order to work towards a more equitable society. Having been continuously empowered by the womxn in her life, Alex aims to be that support for others and uplift their stories and potential. This drive has led her to become involved in several womxn of color organizations on and off campus and is enthusiastic about working alongside the team at Latina Coalition. Bringing prior archival and research experience, Alex is excited to contribute to Latina Coalition's mission by preserving and learning from its rich “Her”story and vibrant present!
